You are not alone…
The purpose of this website is for you, parents, to connect and find each other. This is a community of people who get it. We understand how hard it is to find other families like yours. We understand the challenges and exhaustion of therapeutic parenting. We are here to build you up, fill your cup, and give you a foundation of truth to hold onto in the moments that are too much.
When I have led training for foster and adoptive families, I often hear the question, “am I the only one…” ‘
Am I the only one who seems to be failing at regulating my child and myself?
Am I the only one who cannot connect and bond easily with my child?
Am I the only one whose marriage is strained and struggling to survive after the chaos that has entered my family?
Am I the only one whose family feels like it is falling apart as we walk this journey out?
Am I the only one who has lost friends and has family members who don’t support me because they do not understand my kids or the way I have to parent them?
The answer is NO. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
While I do not have foster and adoptive children of my own, I do have a heart and a deep love for them. I have spent my career learning and understanding these children, the way their brains work, the way their bodies interpret the world around them. I work with these amazing, resilient children on a daily basis and I have been given the incredible gift of being able to encourage and support families just like yours. The Lord is teaching me and changing me to love more like Him through these kids every day. It doesn’t matter what the behaviors are on the outside, it is just a symptom. These kids are hurting and trying to find safety, connection, and their place in the world. It is my job to connect, to lift them up, call out who God created them to be, speak truth and life over the lies they are believing about themselves and their futures. It is my job to lay the foundation of truth so you, parent, have a solid rock to stand on with your children.
Here is the foundation of truth you can cling to and rest in today…
Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.
1 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3
Take comfort in these promises today. You are not only not alone, but you have a purpose. You are doing kingdom work and there is a community of people doing this work with you. Let’s learn from the Healer. Together.
